I’ve been a nurse for over 20 years. In that time, I’ve learned a lot about people. About illness. About healing. But something shifted inside of me when I became a Nurse Practitioner. I began to realize that we’re only scratching the surface. We’d treat one issue-high blood pressure, gut pain, fatigue-and think the job was done. But the truth? One problem would disappear, and another would take its place. We weren’t solving the root cause. We weren’t seeing the body as a whole. This was very frustrating in my practice which led me on a journey into functional medicine.
When we treat the body as a whole-nutrition, hormones, stress, gut, and lifestyle we can begin to truly heal. Not just managing one illness but diving deeper into the root of the problem where we begin to find transformation.
